First Aid for Mental Health

As if physical injuries were not enough to deal with, they are often more accompanied by unseen or hidden traumas. These have a nasty habit of resurfacing many years later and can have colossal impact.

Our lead trainer has experienced Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which can happen to anyone at anytime from any place. Mental Health First Aid Training allows us to accept there are things beyond our own control and that we can all be susceptible to these illness’s. Mental health is spiralling rapidly across Northern Ireland. You should never judge anyone, there is a well-known phrase that says “Never judge anyone until you have walked a mile in their shoes”. Even if you do, every mile or pair of shoes is different.

First Aid Training for Mental Health allows us to import ambassadors to help intervene at the earliest possible point, this allows early treatment and prevention.

First Aid for Mental Health Awareness – 4 hours

This introductory course is aimed at providing learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost the person towards professional help. Successful candidates will gain a level 1 qualification.

First Aid for Mental Health – 6 hours

Complementing the level 1 course as above this course also covers aspects including expanding on subjects such as; drugs and alcohol and incorporates the Mental Health Action Plan. This covers ways in which positive mental health culture can be supported in the workplace.

Supervising First Aid for Mental Health – 12 hours

This 2-day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. It covers content of both level 1 and 2 but is aimed at assessors and supervisor levels in the workplace.
